Professional Regulations:

The firm’s Attorneys at Law bear the title awarded by the Federal Republic of Germany "Rechtsanwalt" (Attorney at Law) and are members of the Chamber of Attorneys for the district of the Higher Regional Court of Munich. As such the attorneys are subject to the Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (Federal Regulations for Attorneys), the Berufsordnung der Rechtsanwälte (Professional Code for Attorneys), the Fachanwaltsordnung (Professional Code for Certified Attorneys) as well as the Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz (Law on fees for attorneys at law). Internationally, the attorneys are subject to the Professional Rules for Attorneys of the European Community. The firm’s Patent Attorneys bear the titles "Patentanwalt" (Federal Republic of Germany) and "European Trademark Attorney" (authorized representative before the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market Trade Marks and Designs), and partly the title "European Patent Attorney" (authorized representative before the European Patent Office), and are members of the Chamber of Patent Attorneys ("Patentanwaltskammer") and the "Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle" (FICPI). These Attorneys are subject to the "Patentanwaltsordnung" (Regulations for Patent Attorneys) (Bundesgesetzblatt (Official Gazette) I, 1966, p. 557, most recently amended in the Bundesgesetzblatt I, 2001, p. 3656), the "Berufsordnung der Patentanwälte" (Professional Code for Patent Attorneys) (BOPA, Mitteilungen der deutschen Patentanwälte 1997, p. 243 ff.) and the "FICPI Standesregeln". All representatives authorized by the European Patent Office are members of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi) and are subject to the Disciplinary Regulations, the "Richtlinien des Instituts der beim Europäischen Patentamt zugelassenen Vertreter für die Berufsausübung", and the "Code of Professional Conduct" of epi (epi-Information 2/2001, p. 75).
